Takara's Collection Series takes many of the famous G1 characters and releases them in brand new packaging. The artwork for most of these were designed by the artists who worked on Dreamwave's Transformer comics.

Megatron is made of die-cast and plastic just like the original 1984 release. The special edition comes with weapons, stickers, and bio cards. Included in the weapons is a special energon mace which was seen in the cartoon
